Captaris Workflow provides SharePoint users with easy and direct access to workflow tasklists, workflow wizards, business activity monitoring (BAM) views, and the ability to build, deploy and trigger workflow from within SharePoint without coding or leaving SharePoint. Tasklists are user specific and provide a centralized organized task repository to ensure efficient task delivery and completion. Executable process views provide a real-time status map for each process and BAM views provide managers with real-time activity monitoring information for multiple processes.

Captaris Workflow is fully integrated with SharePoint and may be associated with an area, library, or specific folder and triggered by a specific SharePoint event (upload, change, copy, move, check-in, check-out, or delete). Document centric collaboration, approval, publishing, and task notification activities can be automatically managed by Captaris Workflow to allow users to focus on collaboration, and task completion.

Organizations add workflow to existing or new SharePoint sites to automate document centric processes. Captaris Workflow assists organizations and teams with the collaboration, management, and approval of documents, as well as the management of other activities and projects which reference documents. SharePoint users are able to access Captaris Workflow functionality without leaving SharePoint or learning a new interface. Workflow wizards enable non-technical users to build and deploy workflow. Wizard built workflow functionality can leverage email notifications, due dates and escalations, XML controls, custom actions, and pre-built webforms. Captaris Workflow webparts inherit the theme and characteristics of the website and can be included in templates used to build additional sites.

Organizations that need to expand upon wizard built workflow may optionally import the SharePoint workflow models into the full Captaris Workflow development environment product and expand upon the functionality provided by the Captaris Workflow Wizard for SharePoint. The Captaris Workflow IDE will provide developers with access to the wizard built script and enable access to the API, as well as provide database, InfoPath, XML, and external system connectivity.

Captaris Workflow through the use of wizards and the full IDE provides easy workflow access for both non-technical and technical staff, as well as a seamless integration with SharePoint and other Microsoft products.
