Automating business processes across an enterprise requires the flexibility to connect different business roles, business rules, and user properties. Captaris Workflow, powered by Teamplate, makes organizations more agile by modeling profiles and relationships that can be applied by role, by process, by organizational role or by specific task.  Organizations may build a unique organization chart for a specific business process and then apply that chart to a specific workflow model. The ability to associate organization charts with processes enables specific individuals to assume different roles for different processes.  In addition, this means that a businesses can change its organization chart without rewriting its Captaris Workflow applications.

Captaris Workflow provides a unique set of drag and drop tools that make it intuitive to construct or update profiles and relationship grids.Captaris Workflow can be configured to automatically synchronize with Microsoft Active Directory on a read/write or read-only basis, to avoid propagation of redundant or out of date organizational information. If the organization chooses to use the ability to write to the Active Directory then workflow could be designed to automatically update AD records when an individual personal information changes. Captaris Workflow also provides organizations with the ability to accomodate users who are not part of the active directory such as customers, partners, suppliers et cetera. These users can be entered directly into the Captaris Workflow schema and thereby participate directly in workflow activities.
