Application Overview
The Captaris TIFF iFilter uses the powerful Captaris OCR engine to crawl SharePoint Server 2007 document libraries, lists,
shared folders, and to capture and send the results to Microsoft’s indexing engine. Once indexed, the images are ready to
be searched through SharePoint Server 2007, Search Server Express or Search Server 2008. The OCR engine benefits from our
pre-OCR clean-up features which helps improve the search results on poor or low quality images. Our pre-OCR clean-up of low
quality images improves search results and index accuracy.
Key Features and Options for Standard Edition
Recognition server Automatically performs full-page recognition of TIFF files and sends the information to Search Server 2008 for indexing;
Performs full-page OCR on TIFF files and sends the information to the Indexing engine
Pre-OCR image cleanup Includes auto-rotation of upside-down pages, deskewing of pages that were scanned off-center, despeckling to remove black
dots caused by fax noise or poor scan quality, punch hole removal, deshading and inverse text correction. This will provide
higher accuracy of resulting text sent to the indexing server. The stored image will keep its original state
