Service Pack 4 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * What's New * * * * * * * * * * * 1. A new unified installation that includes Captaris Alchemy Gold as well as the Captaris Alchemy Content Management Suite. You can now install Captaris Alchemy Gold or the Captaris Alchemy Content Management Suite (with default or custom settings) from the same installation program. 2. For new installations, Captaris Alchemy document management software now installs to the new directory Program Files | Captaris instead of Program Files | IMR. If you are upgrading your Alchemy product, however, your default installation directory will remain Program Files | IMR. 3. OCR text created in Alchemy 8.2 SP3 or later can be viewed in the Captaris viewer by clicking the Text Content button on the Captaris Viewer toolbar when viewing a supported image file. 4. Alchemy is compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007. 5. Alchemy now uses the Adobe PDF viewer to view PDF files. To view PDF files in Alchemy you will need Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat 6 or later. 6. You can now use barcode pattern matching (regular expressions: a special text string that describes a search pattern) to create new documents when Alchemy Scan encounters the barcode that matches the specified barcode pattern in the documents being scanned. 7. Database Lookup for Advance Alchemy Content Management Server is a new data entry feature that automatically imports data from another external ODBC-compliant database source into Alchemy document profile fields in real time in both Alchemy LAN and Web clients. 8. You can now copy or move your search results to a new or existing Alchemy database using the existing Copy/Move feature in Alchemy. 9. Alchemy has expanded its language support to include Greek and Arabic. 10. OCR in Alchemy will now detect and index Polish and Greek characters and text. 11. When using the Copy/Move feature, both the source and destination databases are locked until the copy or move is completed, preventing other users from possibly modifying either database during the copy/move operation. * * * * * * * * * * * Documentation Errata * * * * * * * * * * * The Captaris Alchemy Content Management Suite (CACMS) installation and licensing guide does not state that Exchange Archive Link for Alchemy (EALA) is no longer included with Captaris Alchemy 8.2 SP4. Because of this, upgrading an earlier version of the CACMS to Alchemy 8.2 SP4 will delete your current installation of EALA. As such, you should back up your existing EALA XML settings file before upgrading to Alchemy 8.2 SP4. If you intend to continue using EALA with Alchemy 8.2 SP4, you MUST reinstall the application on a different computer than where you installed the Captaris Alchemy Content Management Server using your original CACMS 8.2 (build 100.285) installation CDs. Alchemy 8.2 SP4 document management software is compatible with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64. * * * * * * * * * * * Upgrade Information * * * * * * * * * * * If you use Library Services you MUST check in all checked out documents before upgrading from Alchemy Content Management Suite 8.0 to the current version. Prior to upgrading Alchemy Server and Alchemy Web components, we strongly recommend that you manually stop the Alchemy Server service, and the Alchemy Web License Manager and Pool Manager services. When upgrading from Alchemy 8.2 to Alchemy 8.2 SP4, the Anonymous User check box in IIS may be selected during installation. If you normally run Alchemy Web without Anonymous User access, you will need to manaully clear the Anonymous User check box following your upgrade to SP4. * * * * * * * * * * * Fixed Defects * * * * * * * * * * * Defect 001: Adding a word with capital letters or in all capital letters to the stop list caused the word to be indexed and thus searchable.
