Captaris Moves Up the Annual Software 500 List
Software Magazine Once Again Ranks Captaris as One of the World’s Foremost Software Companies
Bellevue, Wash. — October 24, 2006 — Captaris, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAPA), a leading provider of software products that automate document-centric business processes, today announced that it was named
one of the top 500 software companies in Software Magazine’s 24th Annual Software 500 list. In a year when software industry growth was flat overall, Captaris also moved up in the rankings.
Captaris ranked at number 201 with revenue of $86.4 million, climbing from the 225th spot on last year’s list. According to
John Desmond, editor of Software magazine and softwaremag.com, “The 2006 Software 500 results show that growth in the software
and services industry was flat from 2004 to 2005 (the ranking year). Strong segments included security and system integration
services. While much of the growth is coming from outside the U.S. in the services segment, the flattening world effect is
sending some of it back, too.”
“We are pleased to be recognized again on this prestigious list and proud to move up the rankings,” said Jürgen Stephan, vice
president of global marketing for Captaris. “Our focus on providing products that assist our customers in automating business
processes – from document capture and delivery to workflow, document archiving and retrieval – has provided a solid foundation
for the company’s continued growth across the world.”
“The Software 500 helps CIOs, senior IT managers and IT staff research and create a short list of business partners,” Desmond
added. “It’s a quick reference of vendor viability.”
The ranking is based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 2005. This includes revenues from software licenses,
maintenance and support, training and software – related services and consulting. The financial information was gathered by
a survey prepared by King Content Co. and is posted at www.softwaremag.com.
