Regions Financial Corporation Consolidates Electronic Document Delivery and Management with Captaris Software Products
Enterprise Solution Supports Corporate Expansion and Delivers Information Faster
Bellevue, Wash. — October 19, 2006 — Captaris, Inc. (Nasdaq: CAPA), a leading provider of software products that automate document-centric business processes, today announced that Regions
Financial Corporation, one of the top 15 banks in the U.S., is using Captaris RightFax® and Captaris Alchemy® to consolidate
and streamline its document delivery and management needs. As a result, Regions has significantly improved systems efficiency,
employee productivity and information delivery to customers. The Captaris solution also helped to consolidate document delivery
and management processes following the merger between Regions Bank and Union Planters, and will support future growth.
Regions Financial Corporation is a full-service provider of retail and commercial banking, trust, securities brokerage, mortgage
and insurance products and services. Regions estimates handling close to 1 million faxed pages per month; its diverse business
groups rely on fax to deliver high volumes of business-critical files such as loan closing documents, billing statements,
purchase orders and more. The company has consolidated all its faxing from a mix of fax servers and fax machines onto two
load-balanced RightFax version 9 servers. “With desktop access and high bandwidth on our integrated servers, employees can
send documents and not worry about busy signals or outages,” said Gilbert Dela Garza, systems administrator with Regions.
In the case of a server crash, users are automatically redirected to another server, reducing any outage to only a matter
of minutes. Integration with other business applications also speeds document delivery processes, according to Dela Garza.
“Customers no longer wait hours for their documents; now they receive them almost immediately.”
To increase RightFax server performance and improve access to faxed documents, Regions also implemented Alchemy Document Management
version 8. Regions generally must retain documents for at least three years following a transaction; the mortgage and lending
departments must keep certain files for seven years. “By moving the fax files to Alchemy servers, we can retrieve and display
information more quickly and keep our fax servers running at full capacity all the time,” Dela Garza said. Using Alchemy’s
search features, employees can find documents within minutes rather than days.
