New Version of Captaris Workflow Delivers Innovative Simulation Capabilities

Captaris Workflow 5.1 Also Adds OLAP, Data Capture and SMS Features

Bellevue, Wash. — April 04, 2005 — Captaris, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAPA)
, a leading provider of Business Information Delivery solutions, today announced the immediate availability of Captaris Workflow 5.1. This important release provides organizations with powerful workflow and business process management (BPM) tools needed to automate repeatable, document-centric business processes. Captaris Workflow 5.1, powered by Teamplate, adds a new Workflow Simulation module, a new Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) Data Cube, expanded data capture capabilities, new SMS notifications and more.

"Captaris Workflow 5.1 helps organizations drive internal efficiencies, comply with regulations and reduce costs through automation," said Hal Petschke, Vice President of Business Development for BizTech Solutions, Inc. "Our customers have many processes to automate. They will use the new simulation and data analysis tools to create faster and more efficient deployment of new workflows."

 Key New Features and Benefits:
  • New Graphical Workflow Simulation module - Provides the ability to perform "what-if" workflow analysis to determine the performance and impact of potential business process modeling changes. Users can now import Captaris Workflow models into the Simulation module and assess the impact on a wide variety of data before the workflow is deployed.

  • New OLAP Data Cube for Business Intelligence (BI) Analysis and Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) - Provides easier access to multi-dimensional data analysis and the ability to analyze and share process data in new formats. Also enables accessibility by any OLAP compatible application including SQL Reporting, Crystal Reports and Microsoft Excel.

  • New Integration with Microsoft Excel - Leverages the Microsoft Excel 2002/2003 Add-in for SQL Server Analysis Services to perform workflow performance analysis right within Excel.

  • Expanded Data Capture of Process Tasks - Provides an expanded process data capture to give new insight into process data related to task and time analysis. Process analysts can now determine how effective an existing workflow model is at reducing time delays caused by lags between the time that a task is ready and the time that a task is begun. Task work time, idle time and overdue time also can now be easily presented and analyzed.

  • New SMS Functionality - Provides outbound text message notifications via SMS. Mobile workers stay informed of changes to workflow processes. A new SMS Custom Action can be added to a workflow task to automatically send a text message to a mobile device notifying that the task is ready, due, complete or overdue.

  • New HR Sample Templates - Includes Web- and Windows-based workflow sample templates that can help accelerate the adoption of workflow by addressing common vertical or functional needs. For example, several Human Resource samples are provided to show how the recruitment lifecycle process could be managed with Captaris Workflow.
