Configuring the Connector 6. Uninstalling the Software --------------- 1. Introduction --------------- This update to your RightFAX 7.2 Gateway for Microsoft Exchange consists of an updated connector component that supports Microsoft Exchange 2000. The RightFAX connector for Exchange 2000 functions in the same way as the connector for Exchange 5.x (described in the RightFAX 7.2 Gateway for Microsoft Exchange, Gateway for Lotus Notes, and Web Client Guide), with two exceptions. First, there is no database synchronization between RightFAX and the Exchange 2000 server. Second, the "IN/OUT" directories, monitored by the connector for both fax-bound e-mail messages and Exchange-bound faxes, are located on the Exchange server instead of the RightFAX server. --------------- 2. Requirements --------------- * Exchange 2000 server * RightFAX 7.2 server with RightFAX Gateway for Microsoft Exchange installed. -------------------------- 3. Installing the Software -------------------------- To install this update you must be a member of the following Exchange groups: * Enterprise Admins * Schema Admins * Domain Admins 1. On the Exchange 2000 server, insert the update diskette and run Setup.exe. 2. Click Next at the introductory screen. 3. Select Complete or Custom, and then click Next. Note: If you select Custom, you will have an option to install the RightFAX MMC Administrative Tool only. This tool lets you run the connector configuration and can be installed on any workstation with Microsoft Management Console (MMC) installed. 4. When prompted, click Install. 5. The Exchange 2000 schema must be updated in order to proceed with the install. If this is necessary, you will be prompted to begin updating the schema. This process may take a few minutes or as long as several hours, depending on the size of your Exchange installation. A message may appear indicating that the install is unable to add the connector object. Click Retry to check the progress of the update. If the update is still in progress, the message will reappear. If the update is complete, the message dialog will disappear and the install will continue. 6. If the setup program detects multiple Exchange 2000 servers on your network, you will be prompted to select the server to install the connector on. Select the server you want, and then click Next. 7. Click Finish to complete the install, then, in Services, start the RightFAX Connector service. ---------------------------------- 4. Configuring the RightFAX Server ---------------------------------- After the connector software has been installed, follow these steps to configure the RightFAX server: 1. On the RightFAX server, run Enterprise Fax Manager. 2. Open the RightFAX server that has the e-mail gateway installed and double-click "RightFAX E-mail Gateway Module" in the list of services. This opens the E-mail Configuration dialog box. 3. Set the location of mail files to the directory you selected for the "IN/OUT" directories during the connector installation or in System Manager for Exchange 2000. (For example, \\ExchServer\c$\Program Files\AVT \RightFAX Connector.) ---------------------------- 5. Configuring the Connector ---------------------------- After the connector is installed, you can change the connector configuration settings in Exchange System Manager. Select the Connectors node in the Scope pane, right-click "AVT RightFAX Connector" in the Results pane, and then select Properties in the shortcut menu. Click the Help icon in the title bar for a description of each of the options in the configuration dialog box. ---------------------------- 6. Uninstalling the Software ---------------------------- To uninstall the connector for Microsoft Exchange 2000, run Setup.exe according to the installation instructions above. If the setup program detects that the connector is already installed, it will prompt you to uninstall. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the uninstall.
