This document provides late-breaking or other information that supplements the RightFax documentation. Service packs are the means by which RightFax product updates are distributed from the Captaris Web site. A service pack may contain updates for system reliability, program compatibility, performance improvements, and more. All service packs are cumulative. Each contains new fixes plus all the fixes from previous hot fix and service pack releases.

This document describes the current update to this version of the RightFax XML interface. It provides installation instructions and a brief description of problems fixed with this release.

By the time you receive this software, updates to other RightFax software may be available. To obtain updates, go to http://www.captaris.com/customer_support.

Identifying Computers Running the XML and Java Interfaces

This service pack should be installed on computers that are running version 8.5 of the RightFax XML Module and Java Interface. Follow these steps to confirm that a computer has this version of the XML and Java Interfaces installed.

  1. The XML and Java interfaces can only be installed on a RightFax server with the Production Module enabled.

  2. Navigate to Program Files\RightFax\Production. Regardless of whether XML and Java are installed, the Production folder will contain an XML Install folder and a Java Install folder.

  3. If the Production folder also contains an XML folder, then these modules have been installed and you should install RightFax 8.50 SP5 XML Patch.exe.

Installing Service Pack 5 for XML

To update your software, Microsoft Windows Installer will patch your existing RightFax installation by replacing existing files with updated files and installing new files.

  1. On the RightFax server you are updating, run the program RightFax 8.5 SP5 XML Patch.exe that you extracted from the downloaded .zip file.

  2. At the introductory screen, click Update. A status bar will indicate the progress of the installation.

  3. When the installation is complete, click Finish.

  4. Finally, to apply the patch to the Java API you must extract the java class files stored in Program Files\RightFax\Production\XML\Java\RFJavaInt.zip, overwriting the existing .class files in the RightFax folder in the CLASSPATH directory on your Java host computer.
