RightFax 8.5 Service Pack 5 for Web Client

This document provides late-breaking or other information that supplements the RightFax documentation. Service packs are the means by which RightFax product updates are distributed from the Captaris Web site. A service pack may contain updates for system reliability, program compatibility, performance improvements, and more. All service packs are cumulative. Each contains new fixes plus all the fixes from previous hot fix and service pack releases.

This document describes the current update to this version of the RightFax Web Client. It provides installation instructions and a brief description of problems fixed with this release.

This service pack should be installed only on the Microsoft IIS server on which the RightFax 8.5 Web Client is installed.

Identifying RightFax Web Client Computers

This service pack should be installed on IIS computers that are running version 8.5 of the RightFax Web Client. Follow these steps to confirm that a computer has this version of the Web Client installed.

  1. From the Windows Desktop, select Start > Settings > Control Panel. This opens Windows Control Panel.

  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

  3. Scroll through the list of programs. If RightFax Web Client appears in the list of installed programs, then you should close the Add/Remove Programs dialog box and install the RightFax 8.5 Service Pack 5 for Web Client on this computer.

Installing Service Pack 5 for Web Client

To update your software, Microsoft Windows Installer will patch your existing RightFax installation by replacing existing files with updated files and installing new files.

  1. On the Microsoft IIS computer you are updating, run the program RightFax 8.50 SP5 WebClient Patch.exe that you extracted from the downloaded .zip file.

  2. At the introductory screen, click Update. A status bar will indicate the progress of the installation.

  3. When the installation is complete, click Finish.

In this update, users created by Lotus Notes synchronization are able to view faxes using the .GIF format as expected.

Faxes in the Main folder in the RightFax Web Client are displayed by default in order from oldest-to-newest. In previous versions of RightFax, faxes were listed by default in order from newest-to-oldest.

In this update, the default sort order for faxes in the Main folder viewed with the RightFax Web Client has been restored to newest-to-oldest.

Attempting to use localized versions of the RightFax Web Client  produces "Page Not Found" error.

Localized forms for the RightFax Web Client are now installed in their proper location and are accessible.

When you add a new user with the Pager Notification option set to Notify on Receipt of a New Fax, an extra fax folder is created automatically and displayed in the RightFax Web Client.

In this update, the unwanted folder is not created.

In this update, e-mail messages can be sent from the Web Client application on Windows NT 4.0 server with Internet Information Server.

 

 

 

 

Documentation Additions and Corrections

For this service pack, there are no corrections to the RightFax 8.5 Web Client Guide. Additions and corrections for the online help for the Web Client are installed with this service pack. For a list of additions and corrections to all other RightFax documentation, refer to the file ReadMe.Server.htm or ReadMe.Financial Server.htm (depending on your server type) included with the Service Pack your RightFax server software.
