    Bad IL Format

I am suddenly getting this exception for some reason:

    [BadImageFormatException: Bad IL format.]

[BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly '20479 bytes loaded from Microsoft.Vsa, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.]

    [Exception: Cannot advance workflow]
       System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.HandleReturnMessage(IMessage reqMsg, IMessage retMsg) +1779890
       System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.PrivateInvoke(MessageData& msgData, Int32 type) +826
       Teamplate.BLL.BProcess.WorkflowAdvance(Int32 taskId, Object data) +0

I am using VS2005. It is a web site hosted in a local web server and connecting to Captaris using Remoting (TCP) to a remote server. I am using Captaris API to handle flows.

    Any clue?

    Thanks,

    Juan

    Re: Bad IL Format

    Ok, I got the error.

I have found an article on the internet http://forums.asp.net/t/1132582.aspx where it explains that a similar error was showed up after installing KB928365 patch.

I have not seen that patch installed on my server so I started to uninstall components from latest installations.

Finally, I got that Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 was causing the issue. After uninstalling SP1 and rebooting the server the error was not thrown anymore. When running a scan on the server, it has showed that KB928365 was missing and pending for installation.

I have reinstalled Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 just to confirm the error. And it blew up again. One interesting thing was that I have run the scan again and KB928365 was not missing. Maybe it is "included" in Service Pack 1.

Can someone from Captaris tell me how to solve/avoid this issue? Updates are automatically installed on the servers in the whole company and we are getting unexpected errors because of this issue.

    Thanks,

    Juan

    Per Captaris support, see http://www.captaris.com/Scripts/captaris.cfg/php.exe/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=5378

I have not tried it yet, though.
